Les visiteurs seront invités à pénétrer le Dark Lab ? A l'intérieur de cette grande boîte, aucun rai de lumière, aucun reflet, pas la moindre ombre : l'obscurité la plus totale. Des personnes aveugles leur proposent une dégustation de vins médaillés au Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine. Bref, une dégustation à l'aveugle, avec des aveugles ! De quoi mettre les sens en effervescence…

Car sans l'appui de l'œil, la perception des saveurs et des odeurs devient bien différente. Nous prenons subitement conscience que la vue influence tous nos sens, parfois de façon excessive.

Car dans le noir, les rôles sont inversés : le non-voyant est le guide. Devenu aveugle, le visiteur n'a que son odorat et son palais pour juger les vins qui lui sont proposés.

Car dans le noir, les débats et les échanges prennent une connotation particulière, du fait de l'absence de jugement visuel. Ils sont à la fois plus intenses et plus authentiques.

Car dans le noir, nous n'y sommes jamais totalement... ou dans des pièces que nous connaissons de jour ! Un environnement idéal pour démystifier l'univers du vin, qui peut paraître si complexe et réservé aux initiés.

Bref, avec le Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine, les visiteurs de Bordeaux fête le vin pourront vivre un voyage sensoriel tout à fait unique, une expérience humaine ludique et originale !

Le Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine est un évènement organisé par la Chambre d'Agriculture de la Gironde, dans le cadre du Salon de l'Agriculture Aquitaine et de la Foire Internationale de Bordeaux.

1 214, c'est le nombre de vins médaillés samedi 12 mai au Concours de Bordeaux !

385 médailles d'Or, 513 médailles d'Argent et 316 médailles de Bronze ont été attribuées. Le palmarès complet est d'ores et déjà en ligne sur ce site. Avec la possibilité de consulter les résultats par appellation, par millésime, par couleur de vin, par couleur de médaille... et même de croiser ces différents critères.

1 000 professionnels de la vigne et du vin étaient réunis au Palais des Congrès de Bordeaux pour cette 56ème édition du Concours de Bordeaux, organisé par la Chambre d'Agriculture de la Gironde. Au total, ils ont dégusté 4 129 échantillons, issus de 96 appellations. Seuls 29,39% ont donc finalement été récompensés. Déjà, ils font l'objet de toutes les convoitises de la part des négociants, courtiers, acheteurs...

Un sésame pour certains marchés

Pour les producteurs, obtenir une médaille au Concours de Bordeaux constitue un véritable avantage commercial. C'est le cas à l'export, avec des pays comme le Japon et l'Allemagne particulièrement friands de récompenses. C'est également vrai en France où 80% des vins sont vendus aujourd'hui en hyper et supermarchés. Là où l'offre peut apparaître complexe et peu lisible... La médaille constitue alors un critère de choix pour le consommateur(trice), en quête de repères pour ne pas se tromper. Mais attention, tous les concours ne se valent pas en terme de fiabilité. Celui de Bordeaux est certifié ISO 9000 - version 2000 pour son organisation…

Rendez-vous sur le Salon de l'Agriculture Aquitaine

Le Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine est présent tout au long du Salon de l'Agriculture Aquitaine, qui se tient du 12 au 20 mai dans le cadre de la Foire Internationale de Bordeaux.

Des œnologues du Groupe Chambre d'Agriculture de la Gironde proposent au public sur le Cercle Culinaire d'Aquitaine, à l'issue des recettes mises en œuvre par Vincent Poussard et dégustation à l'appui, des accords met-vin.

Rendez-vous du mercredi 16 au dimanche 20 sur le Cercle Culinaire d'Aquitaine, hall 4, à 17 h 30 et à 19 h 30.

Promoting award-winning wines
The Chamber of Agriculture of Gironde, in collaboration with the Salon d'Agriculture d'Aquitaine, uses every method of communication available for the promotion of the award-winning wines. The plan includes media relations for good media coverage of the event, participation in the Salon de l'Agriculture d'Aquitaine, the development of the website, special plans for buyers ... This gives the Concours de Bordeaux an impressive reputation amongst buyers and soncumers, a strong image of precision and reliability.

The Wine Bar
The Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine invites you to its Oenothèque (Wine Bar) throughout the International Fair of Bordeaux, at the Salon of Agriculture Aquitaine. The program includes tastings of award-winning wines, also workshops with winemakers, sommeliers and vintners. This is a great opportunity to communicate and to remember that with the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine, it's easy to choose the right wine!

The Festival of Wine in China
The Concours de Bordeaux is exporting! The Chamber of Agriculture of Gironde, in collaboration with the Regional Council of Aquitaine and BNPH, conducted a major promotional campaign in China in late 2010, a campaign to be relaunched in November 2011. 300 award-winning wines at the Bordeaux Competition will be subject to Chinese professionals, trained in tasting by a wine expert of the Chamber of Agriculture. These distributors, importers, buyers will vote on the Coup de Coeur trophees. Aquitaine winemakers will participate in the Festival 2011, for winemakers for whom business meetings will be organsied.

Legal constraints to be respected, if you put the badge on the label or back label, the following items must appear:

the logo,
the words "Gold Medal (silver or bronze) at the Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine"
year in which the medal was won
The number assigned by the organization to each award-winning grower, in the days after the contest, on the certification of the coin. A copy must be provided to the printer. The numbers are composed as follows: year of the coin + 4 digit number (serial number) to the left of a bar; 1 to X digits to the right of that bar, which correspond to the number of badges awarded based on the volume of medals.

Warning!

the use of both the medal and badge sticker on the same bottle is prohibited.
Only mentioning the coin on the labels of the bottles bottles, without representation, is not allowed.

Chromatic Recommendations

The medal on the label must be as close as possible to the medal sticker. We advise you to follow the chart below, with one possible variation: text may be in black or white. It is ecessary to ensure that the colors are not confusing.

La promotion des vins médaillés

La Chambre d'Agriculture de la Gironde, en collaboration avec le Salon d'Agriculture d'Aquitaine, déploient tout un dispositif de communication pour assurer la promotion des vins médaillés.

Ce plan intègre des relations presse pour une bonne couverture médiatique de l'événement, la participation au Salon de l'Agriculture d'Aquitaine, le développement du site internet, des actions spécifiques auprès des acheteurs… Il permet au concours de Bordeaux de bénéficier auprès des acheteurs et des consommateurs d'une forte notoriété, d'une image forte de rigueur et de fiabilité.

Bordeaux fête le vin
Du 28 juin au 1er juillet, le Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine sera présent à Bordeaux fête le vin, pour une animation tout à fait originale mettant à l'honneur les vins médaillés. L'occasion de rappeler aux Bordelais, qu'avec le Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine, c'est facile de bien choisir son vin !

Le Festival des Vins en Chine

Le Concours de Bordeaux s'exporte ! La Chambre d'Agriculture de la Gironde, en collaboration avec le Conseil Régional d'Aquitaine et l'AAPrA, a mené une importante opération de promotion en Chine fin 2010, opération reconduite en novembre 2011. Plus de 170 vins médaillés au Concours de Bordeaux ont été soumis à des professionnels chinois. Ces distributeurs, importateurs, acheteurs ont élu 21 Trophées Coup de Cœur.

Gironde's Department of Agriculture and the Agriculture Exhibition of Aquitaine has developed numerous promotion methods to introduce and recognise medal-winning wines. They can only have an impact if the buyers and consumers can identify the winning wines. Otherwise, it would mean promoting a product that doesn't exist...... This is why it is absolutely necessary to show your medal on your bottles! You may also mention your success on any marketing material.

To display your medal on the bottles, we propose 2 solutions:

1) 1) you can put a sticker next to the label of your wine (only 2 printers are authorised by the organisation to make this sticker)

2009: a new graphic look for the medals

In 2009, the Bordeaux Wine Awards adopted a new visual identity. The idea was to make the medals more visible, and easier to recognise by the consumers.

Please note that if you wish to print out the label of a wine awarded a medal at the 2009 competition, you must use the new version of the medal. If you wish to print out the label of a wine awarded a medal before the 2009 competition, you must use the old medal.

The first ambassadors

As well as medal winners, you are the first 'ambassadors' of the competition! Feel free to flaunt your achievement, and remind your customers what gives the Bordeaux Wine Awards – Wines of Aquitaine its reputation.

The selection of professionals
Choosing a medal winning wine at the Bordeaux Wine Awards is to choose a wine selected by specialists: all of the tasters at the competition are wine professionals.

No fraud
The Bordeaux Wine Awards, approved by the Minister for Agriculture and organised by the Gironde Department of Agriculture, has developed different procedures to prevent all attempts at fraud: wines preselected directly at the chateau, blind tasting.... A numbering system permits the inspection of medal stickers on the bottles, preventing a non-prize-winning wine being given a medal from the competition.

A certified competition
The Bordeaux Wine Awards are ISO 9001 certified – version 2000 for its organisation, efficient and highly capable judging by an independent certifying body.

Products that are easily recognised
All medal winning wines from the Bordeaux Wine Awards are recognisable thanks to the unique logo visible on the label or by a sticker on the bottle. This image, easily identifiable, is the proof that the wine has been selected at the Bordeaux Wine Awards.

A commitment to sustainable development
Since 2006, the Bordeaux Wine Awards – Wines of Aquitaine has been 100% committed to sustainable development. Everything is considered so as to limit the impact on the environment, combining social and economic responsibilities ; sorting waste, reducing the use of paper to a strict minimum, selecting suppliers within the region, partnerships with associations and much more. A wide range of choice
The Bordeaux Wine Awards does not mean the latest vintage of Bordeaux wines! All the appellations from the Aquitaine region are represented, from Irouleguy to Côtes de Castillon by way of Saint-Emillion or Sauternes. All appellations, that means all colours (red, white, rose, sparkling, syrupy....), but also all prices! Therefore, everyone can find what they're looking for among the range of medal winning wines from the Bordeaux Wine Awards.

The Wine Awards of Bordeaux is open to all producers in the Aquitaine region:

Individual cellars
Co-op cellars
Wholesalers

Each candidate may present:

white, red, rose or sparkling wines
bulk wine or in bottles
the three latest vintages

Please note: since 2007, the Bordeaux Wine Awards is open to the Vins de Pays de l'Atlantique appellation.

A wine that has already been awarded a medal may not enter the competition a second time.

Registration for the 2011 Bordeaux Wine Awards – Wines of Aquitaine is now closed.

An undeniable marketing advantage

Winning a medal at the Bordeaux Wine Awards is, in such an ever increasingly competitive market, to have a substantial advantage with negotiators, wholesalers, wine merchants, restaurant owners, individual clients......

This is evident when it comes to exporting wine, with countries such as Japan and Germany in particular being very fond of awards. It is equally true in France where 80% of wine sold today is from supermarkets, where it can be difficult to choose from an overwhelming selection. The medal represents a certain standard for buyers, looking for a way to choose a good wine.

According to a survey by medal-winning producers, prize-winning wines from the Bordeaux Wine Awards sell the best. They often sell the quickest, even the more expensive ones. But why? Because the Bordeaux Wine Awards is renowned for its professionalism and the reliability of its results.

Extensively promoted wines

The Department of Agriculture of the Gironde region and the Agricultural Exhibition of Aquitaine, organisers of the Bordeaux Wine Awards – Wines of Aquitaine, have a communication system to ensure the promotion of medal-winning wines. The plan combines press releases for good media coverage of the event, participation in the Awards at the Agricultural Exhibition of Aquitaine, development of the website, initiatives for broad circulation....... It gives the Bordeaux Wine Awards a great reputation among buyers and consumers, a strong image of professionalism and reliability.

No fraud

The Bordeaux Wine Awards, approved by the Minister for Agriculture and organised by the Gironde Department of Agriculture, has developed different procedures to prevent all attempts at fraud:

The candidate wines are not sent to the organisation, but are preselected directly at the château. This method allows us to ensure that the wine put forward by the producer is indeed the wine that will be tasted on the day of the competitions. It also lets us check the volume !
So that the results remain impartial, the tasting is done as a blind test. The bottles have, obviously, no means of identification. They carry an identification number, the appellation and the vintage. It is therefore impossible for the taster to know the producer ! Wines from producers and wines from merchants are not separated on the tables. A member of the jury who is also a vintner does not judge his own wines.
The General Directorate for Fair Trading, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control is fully authorized to inspect prize-winning wines at any given moment.
A numbering system permits the inspection of medal stickers on the bottles, preventing a non-prize-winning wine being given a medal from the wine awards.

A certified competition

The Bordeaux Wine Awards are ISO 9001 certified – version 2000 for its organisation, efficient and highly capable judging by an independent certifying body. This recognition emphasizes and rewards the professionalism of the organisation. It guarantees that all candidate producers' expectations are carefully taken into consideration. A survey taken in 2007 by medal-winners showed their complete satisfaction, whether it was about the registration, sampling, contact with the organisation: over 90% of participants gave an exceptionally favourable reaction!
